52 Re-deux – Week 26: Plain dress to Tie-Dye Skirt

June 30, 2011

Hillary had a vision for her birthday bash and it wasn’t about what she was going to wear but what Athena Daisy (a.k.a. Baby Girl) should wear.  She pictured her wearing a tie-dyed, long flowing skirt.  Do you know how hard it is to find that for a 2 month old!?  So, Hillary and I decided we’d make one.

We found a little  shirt at Walmart, bought the smallest size possible, and decided with a little editing we could make it into a skirt.  I cut of the top portion,  fixed the hem and brought it in about 4 inches. (as Baby Girl grows, we can let it out again so she can wear it even longer)  Hillary did the tie-dying and it turned out beautifully.  With her new skirt, and the headband I could resist buying, Lil’ Miss Athena’s new outfit screams ‘summer fun’!

As promised, here’s a few pics from Hillary’s birthday bash.

Hillary wanted/loves fruti pizza, so Courtney made it for her party.

Fancy those ruffled streamers?  Go here to get the tutorial on how to make those dandy lil’ decorations.
