52 Re-deux – Week 28: Fish to Stripes Bathroom
This re-deux is way over due! My brother and I choose a tropical fish theme for the bathroom we shared over 10 years ago! Seriously, time for an update.
I love the contrast between the straight-edged stripes and the brush stroke feel of the bold flower print on the shower curtain. I spotted the curtain at Kohl’s, and though it’s probably a bit brighter than my mother’s taste, I thought it went pretty well with the color scheme she has going on in the basement family room (where the bathroom is located next to).
Though it’s still a bit of a work in progress, I was too excited not to show you AND I want your opinion! Rust-oleum has a product that will cover laminate countertop, for a fraction of the cost of buying a new countertop. I was just curious as to whether anyone has tried the Countertop coating, and if so how’d it go? The next big question (if I decide to use the coating), which color should I use?
Leave me a comment below, and check back soon to see photos of the final results. Thanks for your input!
I’ve never used the countertop coating, but I’ve looked into it for our kitchen countertops. I’ll be interested to see how your’s turns out! Looks great! 🙂

HI Girls, Many years ago I used something to cover my orange bathroom countertop. It worked really good as far as staying on. What I needed and I didn’t use was a very fine brush. Mine was to big and left brush marks. Another thing that I did was paint the wooden part of vanity white. It made a big difference. It just updated the vanity with the rest of the bathroom. You guys are doing good. Keep it up. Mary Mabry

I vote Pewter or Cobblestone-you’ll like the gray longer:)

Find a laminate remnant- seriously, costs maybe around $60 for a new top. Keep in mind with a bathroom it will be exposed to a lot of water and humidity- might be hard for that topical fix to hold up in the long run. Never tried that product though.
