Re-Deux Summer Party with Tall Guy and a Grill
It’s finally summer! Well not technically, but by most standards Memorial Day is the beginning of pools opening and white pants wearing. Summer in my book. Mel and I decided to throw a little get-together to celebrate. Because we have been living in a world of white, gray, and brown for too many months, our theme was a Pop of Color. Besides the flowers, we didn’t buy anything for the table. Mel had most of the vases, garland, and barware in her stash. We used my everyday dishes and silverware, and raided my linen closet for a tablecloth, napkins and placemats (which were actually from my wedding!) Flowers were courtesy of Trader Joes. They always have such bright, fun flowers!
Our expertise is the party part, so we had Tall Guy and a Grill Catering take care of the edibles. Since our theme was bright summer colors, the Tall Guy helped us bring out that theme in the food. We wanted to keep it somewhat light, so we did all appetizer size portions. Most of the dishes are on Tall Guy’s menu, but there were a couple things he did custom for us like the flank steak lettuce wraps and the mango salsa cups.
The menu was as follows:
Superfruit Salad (Organic Spring Mix, Strawberries, Blueberries, Goat Cheese Crumbles, Walnuts, Balsamic)
Caprese Skewers (Cherry Tomatoes, Fresh Mozzarella, Basil)
Black Bean Mango Salsa Cups (Wontons, Scratch-Made Mango Black Bean Salsa)
Flank Steak Lettuce Wraps (Romaine, Flank Steak with Asian Marinade, Cucumber, Carrots, Cherry Tomatoes)
Pimento Grilled Cheeses Triangles (Texas Toast, Martha’s Pimento Cheese-Tall Guy has regular sized Pimento Grilled Cheeses on his Takeout Brunch Menu)
Raspberry Lemon Curd Tartletts
The favorite was definitely the grilled cheeses. SO GOOD!
In addition to the food, we also had a signature drink. Mel shook up some Salty Dogs with her sweet shaker set!
All in all, a nice way to spend an afternoon. Good food, good cocktails, good company!
